Welcome to the Research Centre for Resilient Meals

A platform that explores and strengthens the sustainability, competitiveness and preparedness of the food service sector.

The food system faces two major challenges: sustainable transformation and strengthened food preparedness. At PLATE, we address both through a systems perspective focused on meals. Here, interdisciplinary researchers collaborate with key stakeholders from the public sector, businesses and civil society to identify barriers, opportunities and solutions.

Mealtime

The recipe for a resilient meal

Resilient meals strengthen food preparedness, competitiveness and sustainability of the food service sector. PLATE explores the transition from five perspectives: environment & climate, health, preparedness, competitiveness and good and appreciated food - for a more robust and sustainable food service sector.

Research

Knowledge that tastes and does good

Within PLATE, the sector's transformation is studied from several perspectives: meals and their ingredients, people and their food, providers and their suppliers, the system and its competitiveness, and the transformation and its challenges.

Practice

Together we create the tools for transformation

PLATE combines research with practice in close collaboration with key actors in the foodservice sector to explore how resilient meals can be designed and implemented. By examining existing and new ways of working, new knowledge and a scientific basis for change are built. Together we research, test and communicate. The goal is to strengthen the capacity of foodservice actors to develop their own organizations for the challenges of the future.

PLATE wants to create a robust, sustainable and competitive food servi sector that ensures well-being for all.
